Bouar Tradeshow
I have just
returned from Bouar, where I accompanied a couple of sick people to visit the
ophthalmologist. It was 120 km away and we were lucky to have it so
"close".
The
ophthalmology study is located inside the Center St. Michel, a center created
to treat and follow AIDS patients. A couple of years ago, with the help of the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, we managed to build and
equip it with operational machines. This
makes it quite valuable for many people, who in one visit can be treated, given
medicines and glasses.
I also went
to Bouar for another reason: the Agricultural Fair opened today. It is the
tenth edition: we started it after a few years after the one of Bozoum, and it
is now growing quite independently, with the support of an Italian Association
(Jiango Be Africa), of the Femmes chrétiennes et catholiques de Bouar
Association (Christian women and Catholics of Bouar) and FAO and WFP.
Here too,
there was a big party (with a good female presence), many cooperatives from the
villages of the Bouar region, and many products.
My dream? A
fair every year in all 16 prefecture capitals of Central Africa!
