From party to party

From party to party

Today, October 1st, is the feast of St. Therese of Lisieux: a young but nonetheless great saint (who died at the age of 24), doctor of the Church, and patroness of the Missions.

She was a young woman who threw her life, totally and completely, into the arms of God, Merciful Love. She is an inspiration and an example for everyone.

Last week we had the joy of welcoming 4 young people who have started the novitiate (an intense year of experience of the Carmelite life, of prayer and fraternity). On the same day, five other boys finished their novitiate and made their first religious profession, committing themselves with the vows of chastity, poverty and obedience.

Between Saturday and Sunday we celebrated the feast of St. Michael the Archangel, patron saint of the parish. In the previous days we had 2 afternoons of catechesis, and on Saturday afternoon we carried the statue of St. Michael in a procession through the streets of the city, to ask for his protection and bless the inhabitants.

On Sunday the Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Fr Michael, a young Carmelite priest ordained a few months ago. The celebration was solemn and lively at the same time. It was also an opportunity to thank God for his protection, especially in this time of the coronavirus pandemic (which has not touched the city of Bozoum). In the afternoon the party continued with dances, sports, matches and competitions.

Monday I left for Bangui, where I had some meetings and work to do. I came back today, with the new car, which just arrived and already has been baptized with the mud and rain of these "streets".

Thank you!
